Lorraine-Vosges is full of peaceful and warlike history, plus quiet countryside, interesting cities and picturesque villages. A main feature of Lorraine is the extensive Parc Naturel Régional crossed by rivers and dotted with ancient fortifications- The Vosges too also blessed with superb scenery and mountains, which offer year-round holiday attractions.

Nancy, the largest town in Lorraine, is graced by its great central square - the Place Stanislas. The city offers many summer artistic festivals and stylish shopping as well as the comprehensive museum of Lorraine History. Nearby, is Lunéville with its ancient chateau and delightful Parc des Bosquets.

In the Meuse Département, many visit the battlefields of the two World Wars, particularly at Verdun, and get to understand the true and terrible meaning of the famous phrase "They shall not pass".

The busy Moselle city of Metz, dominated by St.Étienne's cathedral, typifies modern Lorraine, whilst retaining its authentic regional atmosphere.

The Vosges, with its forests, rolling landscapes and skiing in winter draws visitors in all seasons. In summer, many stay at lakeside Gérardmer or in spa towns such as Bains-les-Bains and Plombières. Others visit Épinal, notable for its historical Print Museum and the quality of its household linens and gloves.

The Lorraine-Vosges region begins just 160 miles east of Paris and adjoins the Belgian, Luxembourg and German borders in the north. It is easily reached by a network of autoroutes and fast reliable rail services.
