« Asturias

The Principality of Asturias is located in the North of the Iberian Peninsula. To the West it borders with Galicia, to the East with Cantabria and to the South with Castilla y León. Washed by the Cantabrian Sea, Asturias enjoys a temperate – humid climate that allows visitors to benefit from both the sea and the mountains.

The west of Asturias comprises a vast territory which can be recommended for those who are seeking a peaceful environment. A varied combination of magic spots of stone and slate, beaches and cliffs, woods and mountains, salmon rivers, hidden fishing villages, intense Celtic traces, etc.

The Coastal areas and inland areas alternate in this part of the region which concentrates such emblematic spots as Oviedo and its surrounding area, Gijón and Avilés apart from the municipalities of Cabo Peñas and the Bajo Nalón. A plural and interesting Asturias.

The South Central is a sample of the immense wealth of inland Asturias which combines landscape, culture, gastronomy, agricultural and industrial traditions, art, history, etc. The Camín de la Mesa, the Nalon and Caudal river basins or the Redes Natural Park are examples of the territories found in this region.

The East of Asturias from a tourist point of view, this is, without doubt, the most popular and emblematic part of the region. Landmarks like the sanctuary at Covadonga, the town of Cangas de Onís, Lakes Enol and Ercina or the mythical Picos de Europa (Europa Mountain Range) confer a special nature both to the coast and to inland areas.
