Le Prieuré near to Saumur was built in the 12th and 16th Centuries. It proposes an exceptionally fine view over the Loire valley and a 60-acre park. An initial lodge was built in the 12th Century. In the 16th Century, an elegant manor house was added to the original construction, a building with a double gable and hexagonal turret containing a wide spiral staircase, a gallery, huge rooms with decorative fireplaces, etc. The Chateau was transformed into a hotel in 1957.
Le Prieuré offers you a large variety of leisure activities in its surroundings, among them: Enjoying trips in the Loire in a sailing barge, visits to Saumur (the horse capital), wine tasting and so on. All of these can be enjoyed with the authentic gastronomic touch of chef Jean-Noël Lumineau with a 30 years gained experience in country restaurants with stars along the Loire region.
