The Setting

The Moulin du Roc seems to rear up out of its wonderful gardens - criss-crossed by stone paths and filled with rustling birches, fine lines of box hedges and masses of seasonal flowers.

Across from the lilac-scented terraces is an islet with the river looping round it - exotic trees, wild raspberries clambering over a sweet, little arbour, a rustic bridge leading to the flower-filled meadow with its covered swimming pool, tennis court and deck chairs for those who just want to lounge in the sun.

In the morning, when the mill wheel is turning, guests may catch sight of Maryse coming out of the kitchen garden, her arms filled with cut flowers, or maybe they will see Maurice Bercheny, the gardener, working his magic in the herb garden.
