The easiest way to get there is flying from a main airport in the peninsula to Fontanarossa International Airport - Catania (in Sicily). Then, take the road to Milazzo. Once there, you have to get the harbor and take the hydrofoil or a ferry service to Lipari. If you are in Naples, you also can get at the port a direct ferry service to the island.
